Amitabha Buddha 20

Quick Overview

Amitabha Buddha statue. The statue is made by skilled artisans in Nepal using the lost wax method. This traditional method requires many steps and much fine hand-work to produce each individual statue. First of all, the model is carved from wax which reflects the finished statue. Then, the wax model is coated with a refractory consisting of clay mixed with rice fiber that will lead to dry and harden in the sun. After three coats of the mixture of clay is applied, the model is placed over a charcoal fire to melt the wax and each pattern made with this method is used to produce a single statue. Then melted metal is poured into each pattern wait until it is well set and to be kept into water to wash the clay. Several hours is spent in polishing and finishing (details are accentuate with tiny chisels, gold-plating, hand painting, precious stones setting etc) to make a very high quality statue. Since each face on this statue is hand painted and entire statue is handmade, there can be slight variation in face and given measurement.
